Elsternwick House by Fiona Lynch Interior Design

The grandest of entrances leads you into a breathtakingly beautiful transformation of a Victorian Home, Elsternwick House is absolutely stunning.

"As the client was encouraging of our exploration of colour, we took an evolutionary approach from room to room. Soft, earthy clay in the lounge melds into rusty brown in the adjacent study; through to a dining room swathed in striking blue." says Fiona Lynch.

A designer furniture collection from interior stylist Sarah Ellison...

New Wave

For a long time I have been a fan of uber stylist Sarah Ellison, mostly for her work in Real Living Mag, where she worked as a senior stylist and the style director for over 7 years and also for her down right spot on eye for styling amazing spaces. During her time as stylist she has been on the forefront of interior trends, curating them as well as making them.

Therefore we feel that her latest venture is the perfect fit, a furniture collection all of her own – entitled New Wave. It features furniture and accessories that are inspired by her local Bondi Beach, from key furniture pieces for your lounge room and kitchen, to 70's inspired mirrors and ceramic sculptural pieces. The range is truly impressive, has a distinctly relaxed modern feel and aesthetically is right up my alley!

The collection consists of an array of materials, such as linen, my personal fav terrazzo, marble, brass, leather and travertine. All of these elements work harmoniously together to bring this collection to life, and wow is it divine!

The New Wave collection by Sarah Ellison is available from Sarah’s website, and exclusively through Clickon Furniture nationwide.

'New day, New Dawn' is the latest collection of furniture and homewares from Arro Home.

Arro Home is an Australian lifestyle brand, based in Melbourne. Their collections consist of stylish rugs woven in natural fibres, beautiful furniture pieces that offer all aspects of living and dining, an array of soft furnishings and linens and stunning decor pieces. Their ranges are constantly refreshed to reflect trends, ensure newness and deliver distinctive products for your home that will stand the test of time.

Arro Home recognises and is responding to shifting global demographics, where people are seeking a true lifestyle balance that informs how a home functions and serves.. and we absolutely love this about them!

This season see's the return of the ottoman which comes in three sizes and in a gorgeous array of colours. Their range of rugs are colourful, tactile, have the most gorgeous tasselling and some feature graphic imagery. And let's not forget the velvets... oh so gorgeous!

"We don't know about you, but we can already see ourselves sprawled out in the Oscar chair, feet hanging over the side, book in our lap. We're relaxed just thinking about it, actually. Mmm..." says Arro Home.

ARRO-Home-04.jpg

“Inspired rugs pair with monochrome cushions and revamped Arro favourites meet with modern twists. We introduce a versatile new colour-range of velvet ottomans alongside our lounge chairs and sofas. And we lift the layers on our entire collection with tasselled cushions and rugs. Arro Home brings together contemporary trends in urban living to cater for a world of movers: those who want to curate their space, even if the place isn’t permanent. From sprawling homes to studio apartments, we believe in the potential to make your space anew and do it from the ground up.” says Arro Home

ARRO-Home-007.jpg

""Go on. Put your feet up. You've earned it," is what the Aloft ottoman would say to you if it could. Who are we to argue? In a sumptuous rust velvet with a subtle sheen, you'll wonder where this ottoman has been all your life. Also comes in Small and Tall." says Arro Home.

ARRO-Home-009.jpg

"With its tassel texture and jewel tones, the Miette Rug (centre) is one sassy showstopper! Whether you pop it in your living room or your bedroom (or your office, or your dining room), this woven kilim rug is sure to make your space feel special." says Arro Home

Rug Edit... let's go neutral!

I'm always being asked if I have a favourite rug, rug brand, style, material etc... and the quick answer is no. And that's because we are all so lucky to have sooooo many options to choose from when shopping for the perfect rug - and what you end up choosing completely depends on the style of your room, the size,  the colour palette and the furniture.

I have created a Neutral Rug Edit for you to check out today - some have pattern, some have detail and some are more simple but the main thing is that they are all super gorgeous, so basically there's something for everyone!

6 tips for how to choose the right sofa for you...

Felix by Globe West - Nosru Interiors

Felix by Globe West - Nosru Interiors

1 – Think about your surroundings - Consider the colour of your existing floor, the colour of your walls and any other room furnishings before deciding on your sofas fabric.

2 – What shape will work for your space – Do you need a modular sofa to fill a large space, 2 small sofas to create a zoned area, or one large sofa for a longer thinner space?

3 – Colour is key – If you want something that will stand the test of time and your changing tastes, always go neutral; this way you can change the decor items in the space to keep up the with current trends without spending thousands on a new couch each time you like a new look. However, if you are into a more vibrant look, go colourful and bring your personality into the space.

4 – What is your design style – Are you modern, beachy, traditional or eclectic? These are important questions to answer before you even start looking for a new couch… Modern, go clean lines and straight edges. Beachy, choose lighter and textured fabrics with lots of plush cushions in the same tone. Traditional go for a classy and structured sofa with some fine detailing. And if you are eclectic, try looking for bold colours, patterns or even re-covering a vintage find.

5 – Comfort is everything – As much we may love a certain look, for me comfort is #1, and if the sofa of my dreams is actually uncomfortable, I’m not buying it! You will spend a lot of time on this bad boy so remember comfort is super important!

6 – Price matters – with an investment piece such as a sofa remember you do get what you pay for. Quality is paramount with a piece that will stay in your home for usually a very long time and get used ALL the time.

My top tips for choosing a rug for your home...

Brought to you by Nuffnang and Carpet Call.

When buying a rug there's a lot more to choose than just colour! You need to think about size, pile depth, placement, shape and style – and that’s where Carpet Call comes in! They have a great range of super affordable, high quality designer rugs that will instantly brighten any room and bring it to life.

I was lucky enough to choose three of their modern rugs to style in my own home, to not only show you how great they look but to help guide you on the best size and placement for your own home.

For my dining room I chose the Layton Outdoor Rug as it’s easy to clean, it matches my decor and has the perfect pile and texture for a ‘food area’.

For my dining room I chose the Layton Outdoor Rug as it’s easy to clean, it matches my decor and has the perfect pile and texture for a ‘food area’.

Dining:

For your dining room or kitchen, it’s important to choose a shallow pile rug as it will be much easier to keep clean in an area where food and high traffic are involved. When choosing a rug for under your dining table it is really there to ‘zone’ the space, so ensure your table and chairs all fit on the rug. Measure first, move furniture around to check and then decide on what will suit your space.

For my bedroom I chose the Jordan Modern Rug as I love the pattern and colours but it’s also sooooo soft and fluffy!

For my bedroom I chose the Jordan Modern Rug as I love the pattern and colours but it’s also sooooo soft and fluffy!

Bedroom:

For your bedroom choose a smaller rug and place it under the foot of your bed, coming approximately half way up. As an alternative option you could place a smaller rug to the side of the bed, where your feet land when you get out. For the bedroom think cosy, thick deep pile that feels luxurious under foot.

For my lounge I wanted neutral and earthy tones with lots of texture, so I went for Links Modern.

For my lounge I wanted neutral and earthy tones with lots of texture, so I went for Links Modern.

Lounge:

In your lounge room, generally a large sized rug is a great choice for the centrepiece of your room. Ensure the rug you choose compliments your furniture, interior décor and fits with your current furniture layout. Rugs are the perfect item to add another element of texture and softness to your space.

My Top Tips for choosing a rug for your lounge:

-          In a small space place the rug in front of the sofa.

-          In a large open space, I like the sofa to sit on the rug or even just the two front legs if your rug isn’t large enough for it to fit completely.

-          If you have occasional chairs, put their front legs on the rug.

-          For a modular sofa the bigger the rug the better.

-          If you have two sofas position the rug in the centre between them.

You don’t need to be super matchy matchy when choosing a rug for your home, however it does need to compliment the space.  Ensure it stands out from your original floor colour and then you can be as tame or as bold as you feel! Texture is key for bringing the most out of your room, so find something that adds a depth, you might like woven, woollen or shag, choose something you love!

Carpet Call has rugs in all shapes and sizes and some of them are HUGE which we love! They have free delivery and they also let you take up to three rugs home for 24hours to confirm that you love love love it, how good is that?!

Go and visit one of Carpet Calls many stores across Australia and let one of their friendly expert store member help you with all your flooring needs.

Grand Designs Home Collection...

Grand Designs Australia have releases a gorgeous new Home Collection. The collection is inspired by the Grand Designs Australia TV series that airs on Foxtel’s Lifestyle channel and hosted by architect Peter Maddison.

Across the range, natural materials take centre stage which is right up my alley. The colours, textures and materials of elm, oak, linen, wool, art glass, ceramics and hide are just divine. The collection is "designed to bring something new and unique to home living. Many items deliver impact through scale, and all tie in with each other for a coordinated look."

Each piece has been developed by experts and the collection encompasses furniture, lighting, plants, textiles and decor. They have drawn on years of experience and passion to bring you pieces with character and distinction.

Hunting for George ‘Clifton’ Summer Homeware Collection...

The latest homewares collection from Hunting for George encapsulates all that we love about Summer. It’s relaxed, nostalgic and has a comforting simplicity. The collection titled Clifton is named after a sleepy coastal town in Tasmania where Hunting for George co-founders and sisters spent their childhood summers. And growing up in Tasmania myself I have an extra soft spot for this collection.

The collection includes new bedlinen, quilt sets, sheet sets, euro pillowslips, cushions, floor cushions, tea towels and prints. Summer means entertaining and entertaining means getting stuck with drying duty when you’d rather be falling into a post-feast slumber. You’ll be looking fine whilst doing the time with the double trouble Tea Towel combo: Cove and Village tea towel sets are 100% cotton, machine washable and super convenient for flicking unsuspecting passers-by.

They have also welcomed the Lounger Floor Cushion, made from indoor/outdoor friendly canvas, it is the perfect addition this summer. The Clifton Quilt Set is the everyday cool customer with an enigmatic smile, understated, super chill and always there when you need him. The Bobby Quilt Set is the extrovert of the bunch, offbeat and whimsical - moving sideways, never straight because no one likes to be predictable.  The Miami Quilt Set is the optimistic cheerleader, always upbeat and with its volume turned up.

“I wanted this collection to represent everything we love about Summer holidays. Our fondest memories are from our holiday’s spent at Clifton Beach. Extremely understated and surrounded by nature. I wanted our designs to reflect the simplicity and calm energy of that time.” Lucy Glade-Wright, co-founder.

“My favourite design is the hero of the collection, the Clifton Quilt Set. It has a quiet energy and a casual nature which is everything that a summer holiday should be.”
