Can you tell us about Otomys?

Otomys is a Fine Art Gallery representing International and Australian Artists, it was established in Melbourne in 2001 by Nikki Finch and Megan Dicks. Otomys offers a contemporary and affordable collection of artwork that is exceptional in quality, colour and composition.

Artwork can be viewed online at www.otomys.com or at the showroom in Singapore and one opening soon in Melbourne.  Otomys also work in collaboration with Cult Design and have artwork on display in their Melbourne and Sydney Showrooms and soon to be in the Brisbane Showroom.

Otomys was established when Nikki and Megan identified a gap in the “Art Gallery” market offering gallery standard artwork online, seen in situ with frame options and at more affordable prices.

What sort of Artists do you represent?

Otomys exhibits original and limited edition artwork by emerging, mid career and established Australian and International Artists.

What are your top tips for our readers when choosing art for their homes?

The great thing about buying art through a boutique Gallery such as Otomys is that you will receive great service, framing and installation advice, which is invaluable when making those styling decisions. Framing the artwork well is an integral part of what we do - the frame can have a strong impact on the mood of the art.  Buy the best quality you can afford and buy art you absolutely love - it is a treasure in a home!

We love that your prints are limited edition, why was this important to you when starting the Gallery?

We began representing fine art photographic works and limited editions are standard practice for this medium.  Traditionally there was a limit to the quality a printer could produce of a certain work; however today with modern technology we don’t have that restriction. Our works on paper are all limited in edition and are low in edition numbers. Each piece is printed onto archival museum cotton rag paper, signed, titled and numbered to ensure the work is gallery quality. We don’t do commercial runs of works - most of our artists are managing a credible art career, placing value on the art rather than the volume of art they produce.

You are bringing the world of Arts and the world of Interiors together through your gallery, how important is their relationship?

Very important, Otomys work closely with Interior Designers, Stylists and Architects on Residential and Commercial projects. The interior of a room can be decided by the colour palette of an art piece therefore art is that piece that can definitely define a room.
