This covetable ocean view Sydney home designed by Space Control has the cool factor. One of it’s draw card features is the stunning kitchen detailed with v-groove polar white curved island and back bench, along with American Walnut veneer full height cabinets, detailed by a solid walnut trim., brought to life by Bondi Kitchens.

Sublime ink-blue veined ’Calacatta Statuario’ is featured throughout the project, with the striking Artedomus ’Smetaldo’’ green quartzite for the bar.

Q&A with Cressida Kennedy, director of Space Control

What was the client brief?

The brief was to bring this Coogee beach house to its maximum potential as it was in desperate need of a complete makeover and to introduce a sense of a playful contemporary style to the interiors that related to the client’s beach lifestyle.

Do you have a favourite room?

The first floor living (parent’s retreat) I like the open planning living that is focused around the marble fireplace along with the feature American Walnut and brass bar for entertaining. The house has amazing natural light and this space captures it beautifully.

What were your design objectives for the project?

To create a house that had a strong design direction but was still a liveable family home – not too perfect. Where the kids could come directly from the beach and feel relaxed to use the features and furniture in the house. Solid American Walnut Timber joinery is combined with a minimalist white colour palette that contributes to the laid back coastal atmosphere created within the home.

How would you describe the style of the home?

The Coogee beach house is richly layered with numerous bespoke interior elements that add fun, joy and intrigue, whilst the design creates a new visual language for the family home.

Scratch resistant kitchen sinks are here and we are excited!

Scratch resistant sinks by Meir Australia.

It’s time to get excited... Meir Australia's new sub-brand Lavello, has just released an exclusive range of scratch resistant sinks and what’s even better, they come in all of your favourite on trend finishes!

This bespoke collection is available in gunmetal, brushed gold, as well as brushed nickel and they will transform any kitchen into a luxurious and super functional space. I know first hand how frustrating it is when you complete your stunning new kitchen renovation and on day 2 your sink is scratched and not looking a million dollars anymore, but thankfully Lavello have revolutionised the game with this new technology.

Their scratch resistant sinks are handmade and finished in an environmentally friendly PVD coating, using a state-of-the-art nanotechnology layer of fine aggregate, which provides a durability unlike anything you’ve seen before. And although no household material is completely invulnerable to scratching, this cutting-edge nanotechnology allows these stainless steel kitchen sinks to withstand daily use. They have engineered the sinks with sound-absorbing technology, an easy-to-install design and matching wastes (included with every sink) for peace of mind. The hand-crafted internal edges have been rounded and surface edging has been compressed for a great slimline look, which also assists in avoiding grime and residue build-up over time.

And the best bit? You can now match your kitchen tapware to your sink!  Gone are the days when you had to put up with a stainless steel sink and a gold tiger bronze tap - you can now have a brushed gold sink too!  Matching your tapware and sink will instantly transform your space and  take it’s design to the next level, kitchens have never looked so good!

Scratch resistant sinks by Meir Australia.

Meir’s products are renowned within the industry for their stylish designs  and quality manufacturing, and as always their new sinks are Australian designed and hand crafted to precision from 1.5mm thick stainless-steel.  And if the above hasn’t already convinced you that these are the real deal,  they also come with a minimum 15 year warranty, because that’s how  much Meir believe in the quality of their products.

The incredible design duo Zephyr & Stone have recently completed two new projects and they are beyond stunning… we wouldn’t expect anything less from these super sisters!

Known for their use of beautiful materials, attention to detail and use of only the finest fittings and fixtures, they have blown us away with the interior palettes of these projects. Completing the look and giving both projects an extreme of level of luxury they have opted to use Quantum Quartz in Alpine Matte for the countertops.

Following on from the popularity of Quantum Quartz’s Alpine White, there is now a brand new matte version entitled Alpine Matte. Alpine Matte has a subtle warm white tone and velvety smooth finish which offers design flexibility and works perfectly with all interior styles.

“In this project we wanted to showcase two classic styles which were both contemporary yet timeless. We used Quantum Quartz Alpine Matte on the kitchen countertop in the ‘Melbourne Luxe’ Townhouse, as well as in the ensuite, bathroom, powder room and laundry. We also used it in the ‘Scandi’ Townhouse in the ensuite, bathroom and laundry.” Says Zephyr & Stone.

Matte finishes are very on trend in the design world right now, creating a sense of refined luxury due to their non flashy and paired back finishes. Quantum Quartz products are only the highest quality, they are extremely durable as well as being a very practical choice for your home. It is also a hygienic choice for your kitchen, bathroom and laundry and we love that it is backed by a 10 year limited warranty.

“Throughout both interior schemes we opted for honed and matte finishes where possible, therefore Alpine Matte was the obvious choice. The matte finish worked seamlessly with all our other matte finishes, including our honed tiles and matte basins. Like the original Quantum Quartz Alpine White, we found the Alpine Matte to be the perfect tone which worked well with all our finishes.” Says Zephyr & Stone.

Visit a WK Quantum Quartz showroom where you can comfortably explore all of the stone options available. They have many popular varieties of natural stone as well as 40 varieties of Quantum Quartz (engineered stone) and 10 QuantumSix+ porcelain options. And have no fear, because at any given time WK Quantum Quartz holds an inventory exceeding 30,000 slabs of stone ensuring that an abundance of stone is always readily available for any project, large or small.

Home Tour - Brighton House by Pipkorn Kilpatrick

We love the beautiful, refined and modern interiors that Interior Design Studio Pipkorn Kilpatrick create, and their latest project, Brighton House, is one of our favourites yet.

The project brief for the extension of this Edwardian home was to create a modern interior to compliment CARR Design Group's architecture.

“The renovation had to suit the growing needs of a young family, whose love of entertaining and intimate family time became the driving force for the design, which connects individual areas within an open-plan format. Material selection, proportion of joinery and alignment create balance and a subtle transition from the old through to the new.”

The result is one stunning but also functional and practical family home… who wouldn’t want to live here?!

Cantilever Interiors Custom K2 Kitchen - Mills Street project

A beautiful townhouse in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Albert Park has been given new life with a contemporary kitchen from Cantilever Interiors that blends seamlessly with the existing architecture and provides maximum function and style in a narrow space.

The kitchen in the Mills Street home is central to a new extension at the back of the house. A testament to understated luxury, it has the clean, minimalist lines of Cantilever Interiors’ celebrated K2 Series and its classic white palette includes a splashback made from handcrafted Anchor ceramics tiles.

As classic terrace house, the width of the home is quite narrow and the Cantilever Interiors design maximises space with an island bench that is 700mm deep. “All the services, such as the sink and the cooktop, are on the perimeter, so there is a clear surface for prepping and serving,” explains Travis Dean, Cantilever Interiors director and co-founder. “In small spaces, the island bench real estate needs to be multi-purpose. In the case of this kitchen, the owner is an avid baker and uses the open space on the island for rolling pastry and kneading bread.”

The service-free island bench also features two blackbutt veneer open mitred boxes, which not only provide functional storage space but also add further texture and warmth to the design. Timber accents are also introduced through open shelf for displaying personal objects.

The classic, sophisticated style of the kitchen complements the overall design of the home and maximises functionality in a narrow space. Like all Cantilever Interiors kitchens, it fits perfectly with how the owners like to live.
