Can you tell us about Homeroom Studio and what you offer? HOMEROOM studio offers a complete interior design service as well as a designers agency showcasing exceptional art and homewares from Amazing Australian designers. The two services embody my passion for beautiful interiors and the product that injects those spaces with personality.

Where do you get your design inspiration from? A large part of my inspiration is from travel. Having spent a year in India and regularly travelling to inspiring, cultural destinations, my senses are filled with colour combinations, textiles and architecture that makes you think outside the box. I also love magazines and draw inspiration from talented designers and architects from around the World. Imagine a world without these amazing creatives!

Words to describe your style? Clean and minimalist with a strong sense of colour.

What are your top design and decorating tips? I always look at a space and ask myself “what does this space need?” Is it calling out for an injection of colour, something edgy or a burst of personality? But most importantly, I believe you should be surrounded by pieces you love that will keep you smiling for years to come.

What does a typical day involve for you? Fortunately for me there really isn’t a ‘typical’ day. Every day is unique and different; whether my head is burrowed in fabrics for an interiors job or I’m out for coffee with one of my artists discussing design and strategy for our upcoming trade show, Life Instyle. Its fluid nature of having to wear my creative or business ‘hats’ makes me feel so energetic and inspired.

What can we expect next for HomeRoom Studio? I am extremely excited by the prospect of HOMEROOM studios growth and the new creatives that will be joining our team. So, stay tuned!

Home Love...Sarah Cichy

Please join me as we take a sneak peek into the home of Sarah Cichy - Sydney’s Homewares & Decor PR sweetheart... Her home is so divine, get ready to fall in love...

Sarah is heralded as Sydney’s Public Relations specialist within the Homewares and Children’s sector. Over the yearsPiccolo PR have worked with a jaw-dropping collection of babies & children’s’ fashion, accessories and Homewares from exciting boutique baby and kids products on the market. They continue to showcase designs across knits, napery, soft furnishings and clothing for babies to teens and everything in between!

Your home is stunning, can you tell us what your style is?
My apartment is ultra-minimalist- strong art deco lines are mixed with vibrant, contemporary artwork and photography which help create a lived-in look without being precious. I wanted to create a space that has a beautiful balance of femininity and old-world charm. For me Sydney is about the harbour and foreshore - I think my home captures it nicely with it's use of colour.

The Piccolo PR office is a complete change of pace. We spend so much time here, living and talking design, that I've been very ‘light-minded’ in creating a space that is empowering but not overwhelming. It has a playful interpretation of Scandinavian cool, mixing pine with copper and pastel artwork.

How has your style and interior decor evolved over the years?
Homewares and design forms the cornerstone of Piccolo PR – part of my job requires me to regularly travel overseas to see the latest in design and decoration. As a result my style is constantly changing and, every six months you’ll see the apartment slowly shifting its way from something that was perhaps Provincial to ‘Scandinavian cool'. I've never been one to be ‘matchy matchy’ and prefer to introduce an ‘on trend’ piece to a broader story.

Where is your favourite place to spend time in your home?
The balcony is my happy place. I wanted to treat the outdoor entertaining area as ‘a room with a view’ by introducing decor such as vases, candles and rugs. I think I may have broken a few design rules, but it works!

Do you have a beloved piece of furniture that you couldn't live without?
I love my Oslo Lounge chair by Coco Republic. It’s a really handsome piece.

Art is so important to bring life and colour into the home, who are your favourite artists at the moment?
You’re totally right. I love art and how it can transform a space. I’ve recently invested in a few pieces that totally dress the room. ‘Worked Over’ by Tannya Linney has a playful softness and incorporates inky blues, strong pinks and yellows and sits next to a dramatic piece by Yosi Messiah- if only these walls could talk!

Which interior/homeware stores or designers are you loving currently?
-       Greenhouse Interiors and Megan Morton define styling– their eye and attention to detail is         supernatural!
-       Art2Muse in Double Bay has been great in helping me source art for my home- I don’t               trust myself to walk in there carrying my wallet!
-       Incy Interiors for all children’s bedding- my twin nephews love their big boy Kip & Co Beds.
-       I can’t go a day without lighting a candle - Island Trading Co. have launched the most                 beautiful scent.
-       Kate & Kate Blankets are also an absolute favourite of mine.
