Because office furniture can be super stylish too... Studio Collection by Jardan

Jardan Studio Collection

One of our favourite Australian furniture designers, Jardan, have just released their latest range ‘Studio Collection’. The range was designed around the knowledge that in Australia today, most of us spend more a lot of time in the office, sometimes even more than we do at home.

Jardan have created the studio collection as a way of bringing the work and home environments closer together by bringing a sense of calm and warmth into the places where we spend most of our time.

Find out more about the Studio Collection here.

Jardan Studio Collection

“Workplaces used to be about the employer, but now they’re about the employee. We’re focused on balance now – on creating environments that make people happy,” says Tom Shaw, Head of Design at Jardan. “So the Studio Collection brings everything that we’re known for into the office. It’s not uptight or stiff or boring. It has the practicality of the office, with the warmth and softness of home.”

The Ridge Collection - Beeline Design

Photography by Lachlan Bourchier

Photography by Lachlan Bourchier

Beeline Design originated out of a love of crafting beautiful timber furniture using traditional joinery techniques, however the release of their third collection signals a step in a bold new direction.

The 'Ridge Collection' features gentle corrugated curves covered in soft Australian leather paired with solid Timber or Stone. Handcrafted from sustainably sourced Tasmanian Oak, Corrugated Metal and Australian Leather; every aspect of the Ridge Collection is carefully considered and executed.

“Our goal was to create a collection using what is regarded as quite a utilitarian material and elevate it to a new level of luxe by covering it in leather and pairing it with stone and timber.” says Lucy.

blue group.jpg

The ‘Ridge Collection’ is inspired by Adam’s childhood growing up in the South-West of WA; surrounded by farming land dotted with traditional corrugated iron sheds. “I had wanted to incorporate the use of corrugated metal into our designs for a long time but had not found the right execution” says Adam.

After launching at Denfair this year the range has had a great response and there are already new products underway to add to the collection. This coupled with the brand’s expansion overseas with a deal inked to stock their furniture in 23 stores across mainland China signals a very busy few months ahead.

An iconic Melbourne Hotel reimagined...

The iconic Prince Hotel in Melbourne's St Kilda has been reimagined and refurbished by the incredible design team at Meme Design. It's beachside location was inspiration for the softer palette of textures and hues, suggestive of Miami beaches and 'candy coloured ice-creams'. The Interior design approach paid homage to the hotels original art deco architecture, expansive windows and natural light.

The choices of lighting and furniture in each room showcase Australia's diverse artesian makers. Each room offers a range of pieces, from handmade oak chairs by HR McCarthy, generous armchairs by Jardan, blush concrete tables by Nood Co, brass pendants by ISM Objects, cushions by Sly Australia and photography by Kate Ballis.

Every element within the Prince Hotel has been thoughtfully considered, from it's fresh aesthetic, it's relaxed vibes and it's uber comfortable furniture pieces.

Clean lines, layered volumes and an assemblage of textural materials (leather, velvet, glass, timber) create balance and a distinctively architectural approach. Full-height glass, light timber veneer, textured white rendered walls and natural oak flooring form the basis of the material palette. A designer furniture collection from interior stylist Sarah Ellison...

New Wave

For a long time I have been a fan of uber stylist Sarah Ellison, mostly for her work in Real Living Mag, where she worked as a senior stylist and the style director for over 7 years and also for her down right spot on eye for styling amazing spaces. During her time as stylist she has been on the forefront of interior trends, curating them as well as making them.

Therefore we feel that her latest venture is the perfect fit, a furniture collection all of her own – entitled New Wave. It features furniture and accessories that are inspired by her local Bondi Beach, from key furniture pieces for your lounge room and kitchen, to 70's inspired mirrors and ceramic sculptural pieces. The range is truly impressive, has a distinctly relaxed modern feel and aesthetically is right up my alley!

The collection consists of an array of materials, such as linen, my personal fav terrazzo, marble, brass, leather and travertine. All of these elements work harmoniously together to bring this collection to life, and wow is it divine!

The New Wave collection by Sarah Ellison is available from Sarah’s website, and exclusively through Clickon Furniture nationwide.

We absolutely love Sly's latest offering and it's dusty pastel hues, brass detailing and the material of the moment terrazzo of course!!

We love this collaboration between Beeline Design x Design School

We love everything that Beeline Design do and their recent collaboration with the students from Design School is just so stunning. The collaboration marks the release of their newest piece the “Flow Table”.

The introduction of the Flow Table to the Beeline Design catalogue signals a new direction for the brand who until now is best known for their Calypso Stools and more recently Cuba Bed.

"We wanted to really capture the versatility and functionality of this table, to demonstrate it's many 'personalities'" says Lucy Grant who is one half of the duo behind Beeline Design.

"I really loved the work I was seeing come out of Design School and so when we were looking at how to communicate our vision they were our first choice." Continues Lucy.

Against the backdrop of the stunning Establishment Studios the Design School students created an incredible array of looks varying from modern minimalism to faded decadence. The image series also includes some existing pieces from Beeline's Cuba Collection which has been re-interpreted by the students; giving the range a more sophisticated edge whilst still retaining their relaxed modern aesthetic.

“I wanted to keep the brief really open and see how they chose to interpret our products and we are just blown away with the creativity and variety in the results.” says Lucy.

Whilst working predominantly in solid timber; with each new range Beeline use a secondary material as the hero of each piece. Following on from the leather in their Cuba Collection, the Flow Table utilises the strength and functionality of powder coated steel paired with Tasmanian Oak in its form.

"We wanted to design a table that made a statement but had a classic feel" says Adam Brislin the other half of Beeline Design.

Looking forward the brand is working on expanding their Flow range with new designs slated for release early next year.

A huge thanks to the following students from Design School: Anna Chisholm, Justine Murphy, Bea Lambos, Elena Seton, Rebecca Leijer, Holly Miskimmin, Susan Ruzeu, Sidonia Thomas, Danielle Mozjerin.

6 tips for how to choose the right sofa for you...

Felix by Globe West - Nosru Interiors

Felix by Globe West - Nosru Interiors

1 – Think about your surroundings - Consider the colour of your existing floor, the colour of your walls and any other room furnishings before deciding on your sofas fabric.

2 – What shape will work for your space – Do you need a modular sofa to fill a large space, 2 small sofas to create a zoned area, or one large sofa for a longer thinner space?

3 – Colour is key – If you want something that will stand the test of time and your changing tastes, always go neutral; this way you can change the decor items in the space to keep up the with current trends without spending thousands on a new couch each time you like a new look. However, if you are into a more vibrant look, go colourful and bring your personality into the space.

4 – What is your design style – Are you modern, beachy, traditional or eclectic? These are important questions to answer before you even start looking for a new couch… Modern, go clean lines and straight edges. Beachy, choose lighter and textured fabrics with lots of plush cushions in the same tone. Traditional go for a classy and structured sofa with some fine detailing. And if you are eclectic, try looking for bold colours, patterns or even re-covering a vintage find.

5 – Comfort is everything – As much we may love a certain look, for me comfort is #1, and if the sofa of my dreams is actually uncomfortable, I’m not buying it! You will spend a lot of time on this bad boy so remember comfort is super important!

6 – Price matters – with an investment piece such as a sofa remember you do get what you pay for. Quality is paramount with a piece that will stay in your home for usually a very long time and get used ALL the time.

Felix Furniture 2017 Launch...

Melbourne based furniture makers Felix Furniture have partnered with stylist Sarah Elshaug of Maitland Street Interiors and photographer Stephanie Rooney to capture their 2017 collection campaign.

Felix Furniture is a dynamic, yet small Melbourne furniture business, established in 2014 by Antonia Morrongiello and Ian Anderson; a couple who were inspired to follow their passion after years of making furniture for themselves.

The ethos of this thriving small business is about good, honest design, using sustainably sourced materials to create a range of contemporary handcrafted, plywood furniture.

Since launching 3 years ago, Felix Furniture has quickly grown to be a respected Australian furniture brand, recognised for their unique designs, quality craftsmanship and refined industrial aesthetic.

This year they opened their second pop-up shop in Richmond and have now launched their latest furniture collection. The collection comprises a range of six new pieces for the home, including an Entertainment Unit, Buffet, Dining Chair, Coffee Table, Side Tables and Bench Seat. The duo drew inspiration for their new collection from various materials, finishes and textures.

‘I have always been a tactile person, it’s all about how it feels under hand’ Antonia says ‘Mixing materials and finishes allows us to draw out so many layers within the piece of furniture and develop a sense of depth.

These designs are minimalist and clean. The couple has branched out with different pieces, introducing new angles and curves not previously seen in their body of work. ‘Our designs continue to evolve as we grow as a business’ Ian says.

The entire range is designed and made by the couple in their small workshop in Sunbury. ‘We really value the integrity of Australian designed and made products, so it is important to us to keep Felix local and source only from other small makers and suppliers in the community’ Antonia says.

The duo have a real hands on approach to their designs and the making process, each piece is carefully cross-checked by each other with attention to detail being the key.
